Why do you need a full bladder for pregnancy ultrasound ?
During first three months of pregnancy,
Uterus is small and often is located either deep in pelvis,
or behind intestines,
The main reason of need for a full urinary bladder is to displace the intestines upwards.
However during early stage we can perform pregnancy routine ultrasound by trans Vaginal Route which do not require a full bladder.
When a Full Bladder Isn’t Needed ?
Later Stages of Pregnancy do not require a full urinary bladder since, as pregnancy progresses,
The uterus naturally moves higher in the abdomen,
so a full bladder may not be necessary for ultrasound scans later in pregnancy.
